Detail: Further details for this (now) Annual Event. Mr Nihal Gurusinghe, Consultant Neurosurgeon, Preston, will once again lead a team to play against a team of Consultants and staff from Euxton Hall hospital and surrounding area, led by Mr Mohideen Jameel, Vascular surgeon Wigan Infirmary, at the Euxton Cricket Club. Mr Nihal Gurusinghe Neurosurgeon and Mr Mohideen Jameel, Vascular surgeon are organising the event. This year the fund raising is being shared with the Northern Cleft Foundation, which is a charity that conducts annual surgical camps in India. Some of the main people involved work in Wigan and Euxton Hospitals.
During Lunch time there will be some entertainment provided by the 30 man Coppul and Standish Brass Band.
There will be; Barbecues, Children activities, Stalls, a Tombola, Ice cream and a small band of cheer leaders, plus a Paramedic with Ambulance.
Planning for a fund-raising dinner and raffle at the end of the day is progressing, with a group of Indian dancers from Preston who will perform at the
dinner, which, it is hoped, will be at a nearby Indian Restaurant.

If you have any ideas for further fund-raising during thus event, please contact Mr Nihal Gurusinghe. We have been asked to find out if anyone knows any Morris Dancing group - to make contact.
The match WILL be played for a SYDNEY DRISCOLL TROPHY or SHIELD for the first time this year, and will be played for annually between Wigan, Preston and the Euxton Cricket Club.

As of 23rd November 2010, all the Research papers submitted since 2008 for the Sydney Driscoll Foundation Award are now available for download on-line. The two research Papers submitted for 2006, and joint award winners, are still available from the Library in Hard-copy form only.

What: Opening of new, state-of-the-art Neurosurgery Theatres
Detail: The two theatres feature the most up-to-date and advanced brain navigation equipment funded by a generous contribution from the Sydney Driscoll Neuroscience Foundation. The evening included the presentation from the Sydney Driscoll Neuroscience Foundation to Stuart Heys, Chairman, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for the brain navigation equipment and an opportunity to see the equipment being used during a live operation. Tea and coffee were served.
The event started, for the invited attendee's, with a tour of the Audio/visual Suite and viewing of a live operation, followed by a presentation from Andrew Ferguson Chairman, and Nihal Gurusinghe Trustee, The Sydney Driscoll Neuroscience Foundation, to Stuart Heys Chairman, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
